Abercorn Masonic Lodge 299

At the September 2006 communication of 299 the Brethren were delighted to be able to present 60 year bars and certificates to three of their senior Brethren – W Bro George McCartney - 67 years membership, W Bro James Davidson - 60 years membership and Bro Charles Webster – 62 years membership.

Unfortunately W Bro McCartney being incapacitated and Bro Webster who resides’ in Canada, were unable to attend on this auspicious occasion.

The Lodge were delighted to welcome the Provincial Grand master – R W Bro George Miskimmins who performed the honours and presented W Bro Davidson with his bar and certificate – he spoke of his loyalty, dedication and commitment to Freemasonry over the years.

W Bro Davidson in his reply alluded to the many memories he had of days gone by, the many pleasant hours he had spent in the company of the Brethren of Lodge 299 and the names and faces of Brethren he could recall who had now passed to the Grand Lodge above. He considered the highlight of his career to be the year 1977 – when he served the Lodge as Worshipful Master. He thanked the Brethren of Lodge 299 for recognizing his long service with the 60 year bar and certificate. He was overjoyed to be surrounded not only by the Brethren of 299 but also by those members of his family who were members of the Masonic order.
