Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 352

Harmony Masonic Lodge meets in Castleblaney on the 2nd Thursday after the 1st Wednesday except in June, July and August. A warm welcome is extended to visitors.

The above group photo of the officers of Castleblayney Masonic Lodge No352. The Lodge was granted its warrant in November of 1760 (original hand written warrant seen in the WM hand). This warrant has been in constant use ever since.

The Masters Chair is a unique style. There is not much known about the chair, except that in a minute dated the 12 June 1857 the Secretary was ordered to write to a Mr Gilmore about a chair ordered for some time to be sent down before the 20th otherwise to remain as his own personal property during secula-seculorum !! (for aye, till the end of the universe, forevermore, forever and a day, for ever and ever; in all ages, from age to age; without end; world without end, time without end; in secula seculorum)

There is a note in a further minute of the 7 July 1858 stating that a Brother Fennwll paid a subscription of 10s 0d (50pence) but nothing further emerges - it would seem that the chair was funded by subscriptions. One can only assume that the chair pre-dates 1857! Its interesting to note that there is an almost similar chair in Freemasons Hall, Dundalk.

The photograph below records the handing over of a cheque for €1,300, the proceeds of a successful Ladies night held in the Glencarn Hotel, Castleblayney in November 2006. In the photo from left to right is:- W Bro Harold Hill of Lodge No. 352 who has had a kidney transplant, Mr. Karl Cronin, Branch Secretary of the Cavan/Monaghan Irish Kidney Association and the WM of Lodge No. 352 W Bro Ian Collie, handing over the cheque. He also has had a kidney transplant.

The Lodge has raised money for a number of non Masonic charities over the past 4 years namely
Monaghan General Hospital €2,900,
St Mary's Hospital Castleblayney €1,000,
Crumlin Hospital for Sick Children €1,200, and
Irish Kidney Association €1,300
