Warrant No. 78
There survives
a letter from the Provincial Grand Secretary of Down V W Bro Francis
A Crossle, regarding warrant No. 78.
He states that this warrant was issued in 1810 to Keenaghan, near
Moy and was transferred to Castleblaney in 1825, where it was in use
until 1836 when it was carried off to America by a Brother who was
expelled from the order for this offence. The original warrant was
then cancelled and a new a warrant of the same number was issued to
Castleblaney in 1837. This warrant was returned to Grand Lodge in
1866.
In 1890, the warrant came to Keady where it is still proudly in use
over 100 Years later "sitting under our own vine and fig-tree".
